Follow
    Applies to:

Deployment model:
  • On Premises
  • Version Affected:  9.1 and Higher

    Description:
This article explains how changing the weightings on Device Recognition(Digital Fingerprints) Profile Components affects their score and how the total score is calculated.

    Cause:
When changing then the Profile Components it it not clear how changing the radio buttons as shown below actually affects the overall score

    Resolution:
High has a value of 100
Low has a value of 25
    Off is 0

All the values are summed, then each individual component's score is calculated as a percentage of the total.
For example: If total is 550, then divide each component by 5.5, if total is 475, then divide each by 4.75.

If an existing DFP exists for the authenticating user, the new score is compared to the existing and a decision is made to either update the existing Fingerprint or create a new Fingerprint and prompt for MFA.

The attached Excel spreadsheet is preset with the default values and shows how altering each component affects the overall score.
