503 Service Unavailable Error when Accessing IdP Admin Console

    Applies to:
  • Legacy SecureAuth IdP
Deployment model:
  • On Premises
  • SecureAuth IdP Versions Affected: All Versions

Description: When trying to access the Admin Console via a web browser on the IdP appliance, you get a 503 Service Unavailable error.  You have already tried restoring IdP realms from a working backup, and ran Reset Permissions, but the 503 error persists.

Cause: Verify that the Identity of the IIS Application Pool is set to a valid service account.  If the account is invalid, the Application Pool will be stopped, and results in the 503 Service Unavailable error.

Resolution: Change the Identity of the SecureAuth Application Pool back to the default ApplicationPoolIdentity, then start the Application Pool.  This will restore the application pool to using the proper identity and resolve the 503 Service Unavailable errors.
