What do JRE Versions mean in the System Information tab?

  • SecureAuth IdP Version Affected:  All

    Description:

What do the Java versions (JRE Version etc.) in the System Information tab relate to?

Old versions of Java seem to be listed, is this a concern?

    Resolution:

The settings concern Java certificates.  If Java certificates are being used then the JRE version entries specifies what version of Java to look for on client workstations, and if found it then uses the requisite Java applet version, e.g.:

If the client has Java 7 installed then it will use applet version 1.7.4.3, or if an older java version then use applet 1.5.4.2.

The old version numbers are therefore only related to which versions of Java that IdP will test for on client workstations, not what version is installed or used by the IdP.

If not using Java certs and Java isn't installed on the IdP then these settings can be disregarded.
