Step Up Authentication Missing After Upgrade

Follow
    Applies to:
  • Legacy SecureAuth IdP
Deployment model:
  • On Premises
  • SecureAuth version affected: 8.2 and above

    Description:

After upgrading to SecureAuth IdP 8.2 or above, the "Step Up" authentication is missing.

    Cause:

The "step up" authentication has been removed from the admin console when second factor authentication is not enabled for the realm. Second Factor authentication is required for either "Step Up" or "Step Down" authentication.

    Resolution:

    1. Go to the SecureAuth IdP Admin Panel.
    2. Go to the Workflow tab.
    3. Under Authentication Methods, make sure you have an option selected that includes a second factor option.
    4. Click "Save"
    5. You should now see the option in the Adaptive Authentication section.

If you are looking to have a group of users bypass second factor, you will need to list a group that will be set to "Deny" under Group List and "Step Down" for Failure Action.
