Version Affected: 20.06
Overview
Can .NET Core be removed from an air-gapped Identity Provider (IdP) deployment?
Answer
Yes, for an air-gapped deployment on 20.06
IdP requires .NET Core for full operational ability, and the version required depends on the IdP version (see the SecureAuth Compatibility Guide for the full list). 20.06 requires .NET Core 2.1, which is out of support with Microsoft and best removed where possible for security reasons.
.NET Core is only used for New Experience realms and New Experience administration in 20.06. Since a 20.06 air-gapped deployment doesn't use the New Experience, .NET Core can be removed without any negative impact.
