    Overview

After setting up Login for Windows (L4W) on a client machine, the L4W Credential Provider tile can sometimes disappear from the lock screen after the screen locks due to a timeout.

Before the screen locks, the Credential Provider tile (labeled Password Reset below) is present alongside the other sign-in tiles:The Windows lock screen before the screen times out, showing Other User and a Password Reset Credential Provider tile.

After the screen times out and locks, the Password Reset tile is gone:The same Windows lock screen after the screen has timed out and locked, with the Password Reset Credential Provider tile no longer present.

    Cause

This is a defect in the L4W version installed.

    Resolution / Workaround

Upgrade to L4W 23.07.02 or later. Download the latest version from the SecureAuth Downloads page, then install the MSI on every affected client machine, reusing each machine's existing config.json file.

For installing across many machines at once, see Bulk installation, upgrade and reconfiguration for Login for Windows.
