Overview
This article explains how to get a Username & Password-only login experience on a New Experience realm. New Experience's Login Workflow options do not offer Username & Password as a direct choice the way Classic realms do, since New Experience always prefers the user to have some form of multi-factor authentication (MFA) — but the same effective login flow can still be achieved with a small policy adjustment.
Configure Username & Password-Only Login
- Create a new Policy for the realm.
- On the Authentication Rules tab, set both conditions to Skip MFA.
- On the Login Workflow tab, confirm Username & Password | MFA Method is set as the workflow.
- Assign the Policy to the desired application.
Special Considerations
Even though the Login Workflow itself still says it will prompt for MFA, the Authentication Rules configured above skip that MFA prompt for every login, resulting in the desired Username & Password-only flow.
