    Overview

During a new integration, it can be useful to verify that certain groups are being passed as part of a SAML attribute.

Confirm Groups Are Passed in the SAML Assertion

    1. Install a SAML tracing extension for your browser: SAML-tracer for Firefox, SAML-tracer for Chrome, or SAML, WS-Federation and OAuth 2.0 tracer for Edge.
    2. Clear the current traffic in the SAML-tracer window.
    3. Navigate to the URL of the new integration and authenticate through it, then pause the trace.
    4. Scroll to the POST method and click its SAML tab. The group(s) being passed appear underneath, as shown below.

The realm's Post Authentication attribute configuration, defining an attribute named Test Group with Format set to Group List and Value set to GroupList.

The SAML assertion captured in SAML-tracer, showing the Test Group attribute with AttributeValue entries for Backup Operators and Remote Desktop Users.
