    Overview

When creating a realm through the SecureAuth IdP Admin Console, the error CreateWebSite exception: The specified path already exists. occurs.

The Create Realm From Existing panel, showing the error CreateWebSite exception: The specified path already exists.

    Cause

A realm was deleted from D:\SecureAuth but not removed from IIS. When deleting a realm, it must be removed from both the D:\SecureAuth folder and the virtual application in IIS -- using the Realm Management Tool does both at once.

    Resolution:

    To resolve this:

Recommended: Use the Realm Management Tool

Using this tool to delete realms avoids the problem entirely, since it removes both sides at once.

    1. Run the Realm Management Tool as administrator, located in D:\MFCApp_Bin\Extras\RealmManagementTool. If it isn't present, download Realm Management Tool v3.01 and place it in that same directory.
    2. Click past the prompts and type AGREE to start using the tool.
    3. At the main menu, type 2 to delete realm(s).

The Realm Management Tool main menu, with option 2, Delete Realm(s), highlighted.

    1. Enter only the realm's number (not its full name) and press Enter -- for example, to delete SecureAuth50, enter 50. To delete multiple realms, separate their numbers with commas.

The Realm Management Tool prompting for the realm number to delete, with an example entry.

    1. Type OK to confirm.

The Realm Management Tool's confirmation prompt, requiring OK to be typed to permanently delete the selected realms.

The realm is now deleted from both D:\SecureAuth and IIS.

    Alternative: Manually Delete the Realm

    1. Delete the realm's folder from D:\SecureAuth.

Windows Explorer's right-click context menu on a SecureAuth realm folder, with Delete highlighted.

    1. Delete the corresponding virtual application from IIS Manager.

IIS Manager's right-click context menu on a realm virtual application, with Remove highlighted.

    1. Realm creation should now work again.

The Create Realm From Existing panel, now showing a success message after a realm is created.
