Troubleshooting: "The Provided Anti-Forgery Token Was Meant for User" Error

Overview

A realm displays the error The provided anti-forgery token was meant for user "", but the current user is "<username>".

Cause

The realm was reached using an IP address or NETBIOS name instead of a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) -- typically because a Service Provider redirected the user back that way during an SP-Initiated flow.

Resolution:

The anti-forgery logic requires the IdP realm to be reached by its FQDN, not by IP address or NETBIOS name.

Check the Service Provider's configuration to confirm it is not redirecting users back to the realm using an IP address or NETBIOS name.
