Troubleshooting: SecureAuth Migration Tool Fails to Update web.config on Large Migrations (150+ Realms)

Overview

The SecureAuth Migration tool automates the steps needed to migrate an IdP appliance from an older software version to a newer one. The video below demonstrates a migration from 9.2 to 22.02:

Cause

Migrations involving a large number of realms -- 150 or more -- can cause the automatic web.config update step to fail or throw an error partway through the migration.

Resolution:

Manually trigger the web.config update from the Admin Console:

1. Launch the Admin Console.
2. Go to Classic/Advanced Admin > Tools > Update web.config.

Once the update completes, the migration finishes successfully.
