Overview

This article lists the U.S. time zones and their GMT offsets, including how each shifts during Daylight Saving Time (DST) -- useful for scheduling, system configuration, and cross-regional coordination.

GMT Offsets by U.S. Time Zone

• Eastern Time -- EST (GMT -5) standard, EDT (GMT -4) during DST
• Central Time -- CST (GMT -6) standard, CDT (GMT -5) during DST
• Mountain Time -- MST (GMT -7) standard, MDT (GMT -6) during DST
• Pacific Time -- PST (GMT -8) standard, PDT (GMT -7) during DST
• Alaska Time -- AKST (GMT -9) standard, AKDT (GMT -8) during DST
• Hawaii Time -- HST (GMT -10); does not observe DST
• Arizona -- MST (GMT -7); does not observe DST

Daylight Saving Time (DST) Period

• Starts: Second Sunday in March (clocks move forward by 1 hour)
• Ends: First Sunday in November (clocks move back by 1 hour)

Special Considerations

DST does not apply in Hawaii or most of Arizona. Always confirm the current DST status when scheduling systems, bookings, or international meetings, and use a reliable tool or API for time conversion to avoid manual calculation errors.
