Troubleshooting: SessionGuardian VDI Application Fails to Launch

Follow
    Applies to:
  • SessionGuardian
Deployment model:
  • Hybrid
  • Version Affected: SessionGuardian VDI

    Overview

The SessionGuardian VDI application may fail to launch when a user attempts to start it.

    Cause

This is commonly caused by third-party antivirus (AV) software interfering with, or blocking, SessionGuardian components from executing properly.

    Resolution:

    To resolve this:

    1. Reinstall the SessionGuardian application.
    2. Delete old configuration and log files located at:
      C:\Users\[Admin Name]\AppData\Local\SessionGuardian Enterprise System\SessionGuardian Enterprise\app_configuration\
    3. Send a new SessionGuardian invite to the user.
    4. Check for any active third-party antivirus software. If one is active, temporarily disable it and try launching a session again.

If the application launches successfully with the antivirus disabled, inform the user that the antivirus is causing the issue and recommend disabling it going forward.
